Self Portrait

So I was playing with Urban and became obsessed with trying to get a clear picture of the bubbles. It is harder than I thought... anyway thought these were pretty cool self portraits. In the first one You can see me, Urban (my son), my house and everything in my front yard. The second one is kind of hard to see me, but that's what I intended. Urban's bright orange shirt is the first thing you see and I might be somewhere in the back ground. hmm... Kinda how my life is right now.

Article 7

So this is a lengthy one. I have to admit that I skimmed through some of it. It does have a good point though. That art museums are having to do with out, esp. those that are supported fully by donations. Some are even having to lay off people or close entirely. I don't think that the Arts will fade entirely, but without some sort of help it may become increasingly harder for the average person to be able to go and see it in person. This article refferences the same era of art that my last article did. This one talks about Obama being a supporter of the arts and the republicans being against "aesthetics." Very interesting things in here that relate to our area of work.

Article 6

This article talks about the Smithsonian putting up artwork from the 1930's made during the Great Depression.  This one is my favorite of the ones that they had in the article.

I agree with what they say about it being surprisingly hopeful.  That seems to have been the theme of last year at least. What happened to that by the way? Wasn't Obama all about hope and change? Now he seems to be all doom and gloom.

Anyway, getting off subject there...I think it's good timing putting out reminders of the past in a time like this. Maybe some of that stimulus money should go to artist to do now what they did then.
